Globant and the MIT
A couple of
weeks ago, Globant was invited to perform a talk at the MIT. Richard Locke,
Entrepreneurship Professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management, is using
Globant's business case to show his students how it is to start and to run a
business from Latin America. Guibert and I
assumed the responsibility of presenting Globant's case. Apart from that, each
year, students have to choose among different companies where to make an
internship and elaborate a project, and Globant was one of their options.
For engineers, being at the MIT could be compared to what a golfer would feel
if playing golf in Augusta (very sorry, I'm sure most of you would prefer it if I said that it would feel
like playing soccer in the Maracaná). Facilities, as opposed to Harvard, are
far from being luxurious, but the climate and the history of this institution
are amazing (This legendary University has taught more Nobel Prizes in Science
than any other).
First we went to grab some beers with some of the
students that wanted to learn more about Globant. The next day, we were invited
to have lunch with the teacher and another group for the same purpose. After that,
we went to the class. A huge amphitheater-like room, crowded with 72 MBA's
students, plus Richard, Shari and our official photographer and dearest friend,
Mr. Danny Kuperstein. I cannot say it wasn't a bit intimidating at the
beginning, but Guibert's charm quickly broke the ice, and the presentation went
great. Later, students made tons of questions, all very smart and clever.
Unfortunately, we had to recognize that we didn't have answers for everything.
But we took notes to take care of that. There was just one question which was
very easy to answer: "How did you do it?" Our answer came straight away: "Only by
having an amazing team -the kind we are proud to have at Globant, was this
possible."

PS: Not one, but two teams are going to be in January in Buenos Aires to elaborate two projects.
Globant was by far the company with more applicants.
We create innovative software products that appeal to global audiences.
