NEW YORK – May 25, 2023 - Globant (NYSE: GLOB), a digitally native company focused on reinventing businesses through innovative technology solutions, announced the launch of its fourth annual edition of the Women that Build Awards, an award recognizing women-identifying individuals who inspire and promote inclusion in the STEAM fields.

Women hold only 24% of leadership positions in technology on a global scale (World Economic Forum), and at the same time, they are switching jobs at a higher rate than their male counterparts (McKinsey & Company). Additionally, it's predicted that by 2050, half of all current jobs will be eliminated, and 75% of new jobs will be in STEM fields. Unfortunately, the underrepresentation of women in AI and Machine Learning – with only 22% and 12% of jobs held by women, respectively – will only serve to widen the gender gap in STEM (UNESCO).

“Through initiatives like the Women that Build Awards, we are actively addressing the systemic challenges many women encounter in the workplace, particularly in the technology industry,” said Patricia Pomies, Chief Operating Officer at Globant. “As companies and organizations, it's our responsibility to foster an environment where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive and succeed. We believe that by promoting women's inclusion and professional growth, we are building a more equitable industry and paving the way for a better future for all.”
Globant calls women from all backgrounds and positions in the IT industry to participate in the Women that Build Awards. This fourth edition will feature two categories for nominations:

  • Inspiring Leader: This category will recognize VPs, Managers, Directors, leaders, founders, or subject matter experts with more than 5 (five) years of experience generating a positive impact in the STEAM fields.
  • Rising Star: This category will recognize powerful and talented women starting a career in technology, entrepreneurs, and founders or co-founders of startups with positive effects on business offerings related to STEAM.

This edition of Women That Build Awards will be judged by 12 panels of esteemed industry experts in different regions. In the U.S. and Canada, the regional judges – including Tania Salarvand, Senior EVP of Strategy & Growth at Globant; Patrick Antoine, Senior Managing Director of Canada at Globant; and Joti Balani, Founder and Managing Director at Freshriver.ai and former Women that Build Awards winner – will evaluate the nominees based on their accomplishments, leadership, and impact in the field.

The Women That Build Awards would not be possible without the support of our global partners: Salesforce, NYSE, Women Corporate Directors, Udemy, and more than 10 local supporting organizations and universities such as Break Through Tech, eMerge Americas, General Assembly, NPower, Toronto Region Board of Trade, and Women Who Code, among others (check the full list here). Their commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in technology has been significant in making these awards grow globally, and, together, paving the way for a brighter and fairer future in the IT industry.
All 24 winners will receive a scholarship from Udemy, the world's largest online learning platform, and special recognition for their achievements. The global winners will also win a trip to celebrate together in New York at the end of October 2023. They will be featured on the NY City Times Square  Billboard during the promotion of the 5th Women That Build Award Edition in 2024.

"Since embarking on this journey four years ago, our unwavering mission has been to honor the trailblazing women who are fearlessly shattering barriers and forging new paths to success in their fields," said Wanda Weigert, Global Chief Brand Officer at Globant. "By amplifying their stories and fostering a supportive community, we can empower other women to pursue professional development and unlock new opportunities in the rapidly expanding technology sector. Together, we can ignite a movement that propels women to achieve unprecedented success."

Nominations are open until May 31 and voting is available until June 6 at www.womenawards.globant.com
