Vidya Narayanan (Rizzle), Cecilia Flores (Weebee), and Aleena Taufiq (Verizon) are the three chosen winners of the international prize that highlights women who are making a difference in the IT industry to inspire more women in its first edition.

San Francisco, December 3, 2020Globant (NYSE: GLOB),  a digitally native technology services company,  today announced the winners of the Globant Awards 2020: Women that Build Edition, a global award that recognizes women technology leaders. With more than 12 thousand nominated around 15 countries, Vidya Narayanan was recognized for the Tech Executive category, Cecilia Flores recognized in the Game Changer category and Aleena Taufiq as the Rising Star winner in the United States edition.

“From Globant, we want to congratulate and especially thank these women for sharing their stories, successes and how they overcame challenges to inspire women in tech all over the world,” said Fernando Matzkin, Chief Business Officer at Globant. “These women are the ones that are making a difference in the sector, managing innovation and collaboration projects and promoting diversity and inclusion.”

The three winners were selected by a panel of judges composed of: Donna Hrinak, Senior Vice President & Corporate Affairs of Royal Caribbean Group; Idunn Jónsdóttir, Chief Executive Director at  IESE Business School; Maggie Lake, veteran journalist & board member of the RU Center for Women in Business; Liesl Riddle, Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Associate Professor of International Business and International Affairs at the George Washington School of Business; and, Fernando Matzkin, Chief Business Officer at Globant. The winners will move on to the final round on December 10, 2020.

“In tech, where 70% of the industry is composed of men, Globant is committed to working to bring more women closer to technology and highlight their accomplishments,” said Patricia Pomies, Chief People & Delivery Officer at Globant. “We are extremely excited about the support we received for this initiative and the strong community of women that is being built.”

The winners, in addition to receiving the recognition, will be receiving a scholarship to the “Women That Build: "Developing and Leveraging Your Network” Workshop designed exclusively by Globant and IESE Business School alongside all the global winners. Additionally, the Tech Executive Winner will receive a full scholarship for a Business Graduate Certificate at George Washington School of Business; the Game Changer winner will receive a full scholarship for a live online Focused Program at IESE Business School; and, the Rising Star winner will receive a full scholarship for an on-demand course with General Assembly. 

The initiative was supported by numerous prestigious organizations such as The George Washington School of Business (United States), General Assembly (United States), IAE Business School (Argentina), IE University, ITBA (Argentina), Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), Universidad Católica (Uruguay), Universidad Montevideo (Uruguay) and IESE Business School (Spain). In addition, the award received support from institutions such as the United Nations, the Inter-American Development Bank, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Endeavour, Women Who Code, Babson College, eMerge Americas, Florida International University, Sloan Women in Business, Wyncode Academy, among many others.

During the upcoming Global Gala, an internationally renowned jury will announce the global winners selected from the national winners in each category. This jury is composed of prominent figures including Linda Rottenberg, CEO and co-founder of Endeavor Global; Shari Loessberg, MIT Sloan School of Management; The Edge, president of Endeavor Ireland and guitarist of the band U2; Anuj Mehrotra, Dean of George Washington School of Business; and Sandra Sieber, Professor at IESE Business School.
